Resources

BTEP strives to maintain links to resources that should be of interest to CCR Bioinformatics Community.  Some of the resources to will be accessible through more than one of these lists, but since the lists serve different functions it seems appropriate to provide all of them.

Bioinformatics Support and Collaborations

  • CCR Collaborative Bioinformatics Resource (CCBR)
The CCR Collaborative Bioinformatics Resource (CCBR) is a resource group which provides a mechanism for CCR researchers to obtain many different types of bioinformatics assistance to further their research goals. The group has expertise in a broad range of bioinformatics topics, and as such, its goal is to provide a simplified central access point for CCR researchers.
  • Genome Analysis Unit (GAU)
The Genome Analysis Unit provides customized support to CCR investigators via collaborative agreements. Additionally, GAU manages the Bioinformatics Training and Education Program (BTEP).

Bioinformatics Software Resources

  • BTEP Supported Software
This listing highlights specific bioinformatics software that BTEP either uses in their training class and/or has been found useful for particular purposes.
  • OSTR Supported Software
To facilitate access to the latest bioinformatics tools and resources, the OSTR has developed agreements with a variety of bioinformatics companies that provide software packages to analyze genomic and proteomic data. These tools are meant to be accessible to the majority of CCR investigators and NCI contractor employees engaged in collaborative arrangements with NCI investigators. CCR Bioinformatics/Biostatistics Toolbox – Access to software for the analysis of gene expression, promoter analysis, array CGH, genetics, signal transduction pathways, and genomics analysis.
  • NCI and NIH Library Supported Software (login required)
Accessible through the CCR Research Exchange (CREx: NCI/OSTR SCIENTIFIC SOFTWARE), this site provides a comprehensive listing of scientific software available from a number of different sources.
  • Supported Software via “NCI at Your Service”(login required)
CBIIT’s  “NCI at Your Service” site  list supported software available for installation on your local computer via the support ticket system. This listing can be found by following this path (under IT Services – Software License and Installation – Scientific Software)
  • CBIIT Solutions
A more user friendly listing of NCI supported software can be found through this link.

Sequencing Facilities

  • CCR Sequencing Facility
Located at the ATRF in Frederick provides production quality high throughput sequencing service to the CCR community.  Their service include “short reads” generated on Illumina platforms as well as “long reads”  performed on PacBio.
  • CCR Genomics Core
The CCR Genomics Core in Building 37 provides NCI intramural investigators with a range of genomics technologies, available either as services delivered by the core, or as walk up access to specific instrumentation and technologies. Next-Generation Sequencing if offered on a limited basis using Illumina MiSeq and NextSeq500 platforms. The core also performs Sanger Sequencing.

Training Materials and Related Resources

  • Class Documents
Includes detailed course materials from BTEP training events including lesson content, additional resources, and lesson associated data.
  • Video Archive
Includes video recordings and other miscellaneous content (slides etc) from BTEP events.
  • Self-Learning
Includes information on how to obtain licenses for self-learning platforms such as Coursera and Dataquest.
