The NIH Data Science Training Coordination team is providing licenses to Coursera, an online platform with nearly 4000 courses in bioinformatics, data science, and more! Courses are recorded and can be taken on your own time and at your own pace.

These licenses are available to all of NIH, including NCI CCR. There is no cost to learners for these licenses.

For those interested in bioinformatics, here are some recommended course specializations. Each specialization consists of 7 to 8 courses, including a capstone project.

  • Bioinformatics, University of California San Diego, (7 course specialization), Beginner Level
  • Genomic Data Science, Johns Hopkins University, (8 course specialization), Intermediate level
  • Bacterial Bioinformatics with PATRIC, (NIH/NIAID-funded bacterial Bioinformatics Resource Center), University of Virginia, Beginner level, course
  • If you currently have a Dataquest license, you may also have a Coursera license, there is no restriction.
